- Historically grown system and data structures, mainly bookkeeping data from a sector-specific financial solution and operational data from a customized ERP.
- No cleanly maintained open item due dates in the context of implementing the automated 13-week liquidity planning.
- No possibility to connect systems directly to Power BI.
- Limited availability of the head of controlling due to various operational and financial topics to be tackled.
Solution
- Highly automated controlling and reporting tool in Power BI consisting of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, as well as segmental sales and a 13-week liquidity plan.
- Automated connection of the customized ERP via a SQL database automatically pulling operational data into Power BI.
- Elimination of all manual work steps in connection with monthly controlling and reporting to the shareholder, as well as in the context of corporate management.
- Savings of 5 – 7 working days per month in the finance function.
Outperformance
- Implementation of additional foreign subsidiaries incl. consolidation, although they were initially not included in the scope.
- Implementation of additional views for business management based on the cleansed data, e.g. top 50 customers, worst 50 customers and analysis of sales employees’ performance.
- Elimination of processual and data issues, e.g. recording of due dates in the open items lists and cleansing of the operational data.
- Realization of a real-time controlling despite aged system landscape with a SQL database.
